Dubai runs more than 20 major recurring festivals, expos and sports events every year. The anchors are the Dubai Shopping Festival each January, the Dubai World Cup on Saturday 28 March 2026, Global Village from Wednesday 14 October 2026 to May 2027, and New Year’s Eve fireworks at the Burj Khalifa. Nearly all outdoor dubai events fall between October and April, when the weather is kindest.
Dubai events are the city’s recurring programme of festivals, trade shows, sports races and cultural fairs, staged by organisers such as Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment at venues from Meydan Racecourse to Expo City Dubai. The Dubai Shopping Festival is billed as the world’s longest-running retail festival, and GITEX Global drew more than 200,000 visitors from 180 countries at its last edition. This page maps the whole year so you can time a trip around the season; if this is your first visit, start with our Dubai travel guide first.
The outdoor season runs roughly October to April, when daytime highs sit between 25°C and 30°C. That is when the open-air dubai festivals, race days and fireworks land. From June to September the big outdoor shows stop: concerts move indoors, the malls host the sales season, and hotel rates drop to their lowest of the year.
So if you are picking dates for events in Dubai, winter means choice and crowds, summer means deals and air conditioning. The table below lists the annual staples, the dubai events that return every single year, with the 2026 dates to lock in first and what to book ahead for each.

January opens with the tail of the Dubai Shopping Festival, a strong month for dubai events if you like your shopping with fireworks. The 31st edition ran from 5 December 2025 to 11 January 2026, with daily drone shows and discounts of up to 90 per cent across more than 3,000 outlets. The next edition’s dates have not been announced yet, so check the official calendar before you book a trip around it. Culture fans get the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature (21 to 27 January 2026 at InterContinental Dubai Festival City), the Al Quoz Arts Fest (24 to 25 January at Alserkal Avenue) and the Hero Dubai Desert Classic (22 to 25 January 2026 at Emirates Golf Club).
February belongs to tennis: the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships run from 15 to 28 February 2026 at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium. The Dubai Food Festival usually lands in February or March, but its 2026 dates were still unconfirmed when we checked, so treat third-party dates as guesses. Ramadan is expected to begin around 16 February 2026, which slows the calendar for evening dubai events; the exact start depends on the moon sighting.
March ends with the Dubai World Cup on Saturday 28 March 2026 at Meydan Racecourse, the 30th edition of the world’s richest race day, with US$30.5 million in prize money across nine races. General-admission tickets started at AED 280 for the Apron Views social village in the early-bird window. Eid Al Fitr is expected around 19 to 21 March 2026, so hotel prices move fast all month.
April is art month. The 20th Art Dubai was announced for 17 to 19 April 2026 at Madinat Jumeirah, though the Dubai Media Office’s own art-season listing gave 18 to 20 April; confirm at artdubai.ae before booking flights. World Art Dubai follows at the World Trade Centre from 22 to 26 April. The Dubai Esports and Games Festival returns from 8 to 24 May 2026, one of the newer dubai events on the calendar, and Eid Al Adha is expected around late May, a week when hotel occupancy spikes.
June to September is the indoor season. Dubai Summer Surprises runs from 3 July to 30 August 2026 with mall-wide sales and the Modesh World family attraction, and it is the cheapest window for hotels all year. The big outdoor dubai events simply do not exist in these months; read our things to do in Dubai in summer guide to see what fills the gap.
Ramadan, Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha follow the lunar calendar, so their dates shift about ten days earlier each year. For 2026, Ramadan is expected from about 16 February to 22 March, Eid Al Fitr around 19 to 21 March and Eid Al Adha around late May. None of these are confirmed until the moon is sighted, so do not book non-refundable travel on these dates: check the official Dubai calendar at dubaicalendar.ae a few weeks out.
During Ramadan the calendar for dubai events thins: big concerts pause, mall hours shift later into the night, and daytime dining moves indoors. Eid weeks swing the other way, with fireworks, concerts and packed malls. Both are worth building a trip around, as long as you know what you are booking.

October is when the season explodes with outdoor dubai events. The Dubai Comedy Festival runs from 9 to 18 October 2026 across city venues; the big-room galas sell out first, so book the headline nights early. Global Village opens its 31st season on Wednesday 14 October 2026 and runs to May 2027, with tickets at AED 25 on weekdays and AED 30 on weekends, open 4pm to midnight Sunday to Wednesday and 4pm to 1am Thursday to Saturday. The Dubai Home Festival runs 16 October to 1 November, and our things to do in Dubai in October guide lists the month’s full line-up.
November is the busiest month of the year for dubai events. The 10th Dubai Fitness Challenge runs from Saturday 31 October to Sunday 29 November 2026: 30 minutes of activity a day for 30 days, free to join. Its four flagship events are all free with registration: Dubai Ride on Sunday 1 November, Stand Up Paddle on 7 and 8 November at Hatta Dam, Dubai Run on Sunday 22 November and Dubai Yoga on Sunday 29 November. The DP World Tour Championship runs 12 to 15 November at Jumeirah Golf Estates and the Emirates Dubai 7s rugby takes over 27 to 29 November. Read our Global Village Dubai guide before you go, since the park is at its busiest in November.
December stacks three more anchors on the dubai events calendar. Eid Al Etihad marks the 55th UAE National Day from 30 November to 3 December, with fireworks across the city. GITEX Global moves to a new December home in 2026, running 7 to 11 December at Expo City Dubai after 45 years at the World Trade Centre. And New Year’s Eve closes the year with the Burj Khalifa fireworks, plus displays at JBR and Atlantis; hotels with a view book out by October.

Not every one of these dubai events needs advance planning, but these do. New Year’s Eve hotel rooms with Burj views and gala dinners: book by October. Dubai World Cup hospitality tables: two to three months out, though general tickets last longer. GITEX Global week in December: book hotels early, because business travel fills the city. Dubai Comedy Festival galas: weeks ahead for the big rooms. Dubai Fitness Challenge flagship events: free, but registration slots go. National Day and Eid fireworks spots: for these free dubai events, arrive hours early on the night; the booking that matters is the hotel.

For dubai events beyond the annual staples, the official sources are the ones to trust. The Dubai Calendar at dubaicalendar.ae lists concerts, festivals and exhibitions as they are announced. Visit Dubai carries the tourism board’s own events listings, and the Dubai Media Office announces the big new dates. For tickets, Platinumlist and BookMyShow handle most official sales in the city; buy from the event’s own site or these platforms, and ignore social-media resellers asking for bank transfers. Between events, fill the gaps with the city’s permanent draws: our top attractions and experiences for every traveler guide covers those.
Quick answers
What is the biggest event in Dubai? It depends how you count: the Dubai Fitness Challenge drew more than 3 million participants in 2025, GITEX Global expects more than 200,000 visitors from 180 countries, and New Year’s Eve at the Burj Khalifa is the most watched single night.
When is Global Village open? Season 31 runs from Wednesday 14 October 2026 to May 2027. The park closes every summer, roughly May to October.
Which dubai events are on this October? The Comedy Festival (9 to 18 October), Global Village’s opening night and the start of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (31 October). See our things to do in Dubai in October guide for the full month.
Are summer dubai events worth a trip? If you want the big outdoor festivals, no. If you want sales, thin crowds and the cheapest hotel rates of the year, July and August are the best value months in Dubai.
