Palm Jumeirah is not one attraction, and that is the first thing to get right when planning a visit. A few hours here could mean seeing the palm-shaped island from above at The View, having lunch around Palm Jumeirah Mall and ending at West Beach. A completely different visit could mean spending almost the entire day at Aquaventure World. Families might prefer Lost World Aquarium or Wave house, while someone interested mainly in the Palm’s scale has a choice between a fixed observation deck and a tethered balloon flight.

The island is also more spread out than it appears on a map. Palm Jumeirah extends about five kilometers into the Arabian Gulf, with most visitor activity divided between the trunk and the crescent around Atlantis. Moving repeatedly between those areas wastes more time than choosing a sensible cluster and building the day around it. There is another reason to plan carefully: several famous recommendations still found in older Palm Jumeirah guides are no longer available in the way they once were.

This guide focuses on what you can realistically do now, how much time different choices deserve, and which Palm experiences are actually worth prioritising for your type of trip.

Palm Jumeirah at a Glance

Palm Jumeirah covers roughly 560 hectares and is organised around a trunk, residential fronds and the outer crescent. For most visitors, the important distinction is simpler: many short-visit attractions sit around the trunk, while Atlantis and several major experiences are farther out on the crescent.

What’s Currently Closed or Unavailable?

This is worth checking before planning because several older Palm Jumeirah itineraries are no longer workable.

Palm Monorail Temporarily Suspended

Palm Monorail service is currently temporarily suspended until further notice due to maintenance.

That matters for more than sightseeing. Older itineraries often use the Monorail to connect Palm Gateway with Palm Jumeirah Mall and Atlantis.

Until service resumes, do not build your day around old Monorail fares, timetables or station-to-station plans. Taxi, ride-hailing or driving are currently more practical for deeper Palm destinations.

AURA SKYPOOL Currently Closed

AURA SKYPOOL is closed for renovation.

Bookings are currently available for dates from November 24, but future booking availability should not be treated as confirmation that AURA is already operating. If your trip is after that date, check AURA’s status shortly before visiting.

Al Ittihad Park Closed for Renovation

Al Ittihad Park would normally be a useful quieter stop on the Palm’s trunk, with indigenous planting and a 3.2km running track. It is currently listed as closed for renovation, so leave it out of the itinerary until reopening is confirmed.

Palm Fountain and The Pointe

The Palm Fountain stopped operating in May 2023, and the old version of The Pointe subsequently entered redevelopment. Do not build a current Palm Jumeirah evening around fountain shows or the old The Pointe promenade experience.

Understand Palm Jumeirah Before Planning Your Day

Palm Jumeirah becomes much easier to plan once you stop treating it as one compact walking district.

The Trunk

The trunk is the central spine connecting Palm Jumeirah with the mainland.

This is where you will find or access places such as:

The View at The Palm: Best for Understanding the Island

If your main reason for visiting is to see why Palm Jumeirah looks the way it does, The View at The Palm is the most direct choice. The main observation deck is on Level 52 of The Palm Tower at 240 metres, giving you a 360-degree perspective over the Palm, Arabian Gulf and Dubai skyline.

Standard admission also includes the Palm Jumeirah Exhibition, which uses interactive displays to explain how the island was developed. Standard admission currently starts from AED110. The higher Next Level experience reaches Level 54 at 250 metres and currently starts from AED185.

Drivers can use Palm Jumeirah Mall parking, where the visitor journey to The View begins.

Choose The View if…

The View makes particular sense if:

The Dubai Balloon: A Different Way to See the Palm

The Dubai Balloon provides another elevated perspective, but the experience is fundamentally different from The View.

This is the most important practical difference between the Balloon and a normal observation deck.

If a flight cannot operate because of weather, current ticket conditions allow eligible tickets to be used again within their validity period rather than making the flight completely predictable on the original date.

Aquaventure World: Make It the Main Event

Aquaventure is the Palm attraction that changes the shape of your entire day. The waterpark spans 22.5 hectares and offers more than 105 slides, attractions and experiences, ranging from major thrill slides and river rides to dedicated family areas and beach time.

Friday–Sunday: 10am–8pm

These timings can change seasonally, so check them again for your visit date. Aquaventure welcomes all ages, but individual attractions have different requirements.

Dubai Metro does not run down Palm Jumeirah itself. Dubai Tram has a Palm Jumeirah station, numbered 09, and the wider Metro and Tram networks can help you reach the Palm side of the Marina area.

However, with Palm Monorail currently suspended, public rail does not take you onward through Palm Jumeirah to deeper destinations such as Atlantis.
